The preparation of this snack is very easy. You just need to make a mixture with banana, grated coconut, rice flour, rava/sooji, and jaggery syrup, then that mixture is wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed. In this recipe I have used nendra banana/ripe plantain. The main taste of this snack comes from the nendran banana/ripe plantain that we are used for making this snack.
This is a healthy snack recipe as the ingredients that we are used for making this snack are nutritious and this snack is made by steaming so giving it as an evening snack to your kids are good for their health. Try this recipe and let me know your feedback.
Healthy Banana Snack Ingredients
Nendrapazham/Ripe Plantain-1
Jaggery Powder-1/2 Cup
Ghee-1tbs
Grated Coconut-1/2 Cup
Rice Flour-1/2 Cup
Rava/Semolina-1/4 Cup
Water-1 Cup
Banana Leaf Pieces-6
How To Make Banana Snack
- Firstly, add jaggery powder in a pan, then add water in it.
- Then heat it and let the jaggery dissolve completely.
- Strain it and keep it aside.
- Further cut a nendrapazham/ripe plantain into small pieces and transfer it into a mixer. Mash it well.
- Heat 1tbs ghee in a pan. Add grated coconut in it and saute it until it turns golden brown in color.
- Then add mashed banana in it and mix well.
- Roast the mashed banana for a minute.
- Add the jaggery syrup in it and mix it well.
- Once it started to boil reduce the flame and add rice flour, rava/ semolina in it and mix it well until every things are well combined.
- Cook it until it started to leave from side of the pan. Mixture is ready now.
- Further take a banana leaf and apply oil in it.
- Take a portion of mixture and spread it on the banana leaf.
- Fold it and place it inside a steamer.
- Steam it for 15 minutes.
- Healthy banana snack is now ready to serve.
