 Chicken Stuffed Idli Recipe | Chicken Keema Idli Recipe with Video Recipe. Idlis are one of the healthy breakfast options in south India. Idlis are healthy breakfast as we are cooking it by steaming. Idlis are nutritious as it is made from rice and urad dal. Idlis are the favorite for most of the kids as it is very soft to eat. R u bored with the taste of the normal idlis that you used to make, then you can make a twist to the normal idli recipe by following this idli recipe. In this recipe of idli I have made a twist by stuffing the idli with chicken keema. Normally idlis are served with sambar and chutney of your choice, but these idlis do not require any additional side dish like chutney or sambar as it’s stuffed with masala. Here I stuffed it with chicken keema but you can make any keema of your choice with vegetables as well as meats. Let’s see how we can make this chicken stuffed idli. Oil-1 tbs
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Ginger-1 tbs (finely chopped)
Garlic cloves-6 (finely chopped)
Green chilli-1, finely chopped
Curry leaves- chopped
Onion-1 (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Redchilli powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-1/2 tsp+1/4 tsp
Tomato-1 (chopped)
Water-1/2 cup

Method Of Preparation
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds in it. Let it splutter. 
  • Add chopped ginger, garlic, green chiles and curry leaves in it.
  • Saute it until it turns light brown in color.
  • Add finely chopped onion in it.
  • Add little salt. Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala in it.
  • Saute it until raw smell of powders goes off.
  • Add chopped tomato in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add water in it.
  • Let tomato cook well.
  • Once tomato cooked well, add minced chicken and salt to taste in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Close it with a lid & let the minced chicken cook well.
  • Once chicken pieces are cooked well, add garam masala in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Chicken keema is now ready.
  • Grease the idli moulds with oil.
  • Add a layer of lidli batter in the moulds.
  • Add 1tbs of chicken keema on it.
  • Cover it with another layer of idli batter.
  • Boil water in a steamer.
  • Place the idli stand in it.
  • Close it with a lid & steam it for 10 minutes.
  • Once idlis are cooked well
  • Take out the idli stand from the steamer
  • Allow it to cool down completely
  • Once it’s cooled down completely remove the idlis from the idli moulds
  • Chicken Keema Idli is now ready to Serve.
