Today I am sharing here with you the recipe of tender jackfruit masala.Tender jackfruit masala is a delicious vegetarian Indian dish made with young jackfruit cooked in a spicy gravy. It is made by cooking tender jackfruit with a blend of aromatic spices and herbs. The tender jackfruit is cooked until it becomes soft and tender, and then it is simmered in a spicy onion-tomato based gravy. Ingredients
Tender Jackfruit- Half portion of a small tender jackfruit
Bay Leaves-2
Cardamom-5
Cloves-5
Cinnamon Stick-1 inch
Cumin Seeds-1 tsp
Garlic Cloves-10
Ginger-2inch (finely chopped)
Onion-3, Thinly Sliced
Salt to taste
Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder-2 tsp
Red chilli Powder-1 tsp
Tomatoes-2 (chopped)
Green chilli-2 (chopped)
Garam Masala-1 tsp
Water
Coriander Leaves
Ghee-1 tsp
Oil-6tbs
How To Make Tender Jackfruit Masala
- Firstly, Take half portion of a small tender jackfruit. Then remove the green outer skin of jackfruit using a knife. Cut it into small chunks.
- Further, Wash it well with water and soak jackfruit pieces in salt water.
- Then drain the water and add the jackfruit pieces into the pressure cooker. Add 1tsp salt and 1 cup water in it.
- Close the lid and cook it for 1 whistle on high flame.
- Then drain the water and take out the cooked jackfruit pieces from the cooker.
- Further, heat 4tbs oil in a pan and add the cooked jackfruit pieces in it.
- Then Fry it for 2 minutes, or until the jackfruit softens.
- Take out the jackfruit pieces.
- Further, heat 2tbs oil in a pan. Then add bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick and cumin seeds in it. Saute it until it turns aromatic.
- Then add garlic cloves and ginger in it.
- Saute it until it turns light golden brown in color.
- Further add onion and salt in it. Then sauté it until onion turns golden brown in color.
- Next add turmeric powder, coriander powder and redchilli powder in it.
- Then sauté it until raw smell of powders goes off.
- Add tomatoes in it. and sauté it until tomatoes are cooked well.
- Then add fried jackfruit pieces, green chillies and garam masala in it.
- Mix it well and sauté it for 1 minute. Add salt to taste in it and mix well.
- Next add water in it and mix well.
- Close it with a lid & cook it for 2 minutes.
- Finally add coriander leaves and ghee in it and mix it well.
- Jackfruit Masala is now ready to serve.
