Country Chicken Curry Recipe | Natti Kozhi Curry Recipe with Video Recipe. A variety chicken curry made with country chicken. Preparation of this chicken curry is entirely different from the normal chicken curries. It’s taste is delicious. This country chicken curry is prepared in kerala style. Roasted coconut paste and the coconut oil used for making curries gives a unique taste to most of the kerala style curries. The main flavor of this country chicken curry also comes from the roasted coconut paste and coconut oil used for making this curry.
While marinating the chicken pieces I have added fried onion along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder. It enhances the taste of this curry. We usually add coriander leaves as it is in most of the curries, but in this curry before adding coriander leaves I just crushed it and fried it. It gives a rich flavor for this curry. Country Chicken Curry Ingredients
County chicken-1 kg
Coconut Oil-6 tbs
Onion-2 (Thinly Sliced)
Salt
Turmeric Powder-3/4 tbs
Coriander Powder-3 tbs
Red chilli Powder-1 1/2 tbs
Salt to taste
Yogurt/Curd-2 tbs
Ginger-1 1/2 inch
Garlic- 1 Bulb
Handful of coriander leaves
Grated coconut-1 cup
Fennel seeds-1 tsp
Black pepper-1 tsp
Curry leaves
Green chilies-2
Kasuri methi-1/2 tsp
Water-2 cup
Garam masala-1 tsp
How To Make Country Chicken Curry
- Firstly heat 4tbs oil in a pan, then add onion and salt. Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color. Keep it aside.
- Further, in a bowl add cleaned and washed country chicken pieces. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt to taste, yogurt and fried onion. Mix everything well and rest it for at least 30 minutes.
- Next in a mixer crush ginger, garlic and coriander leaves without adding water.
- Then heat coconut oil in a pan. Add grated coconut, fennel seeds, black pepper and curry leaves. Fry it until it turns golden brown in color.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and Kashmiri chilli powder, Saute it for 1 minute.
- Allow it to cool down completely. Once it’s cooled down completely, transfer it into a mixer.
- Add enough water and grind it to a fine paste.
- Further heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker. Then add crushed ginger garlic, coriander leaves and green chilies. Then sauté it until it turns golden brown in color.
- Add the marinated chicken pieces, grounded coconut paste, kasuri methi and salt to taste in it. Mix it well and add 2 cup water. Mix it (Check salt add if needed).
- Cook it for 5-6 whistles in medium flame.
- Finally add garam masala in it and mix it. Cook it for 1 minute. Country chicken curry is now ready to serve.
