Roasted Coconut Fish Curry Recipe | Kerala Style Fish Curry Recipe with Video Recipe. This recipe is for fish lovers. Fish Curry is a favorite dish for most of the non vegetarians across India. It is made in various ways in each region with different ingredients. This is a kerala style fish curry recipe. In our house we used to prepare fish curry in various ways in kerala style, but this roasted coconut fish curry is my most favorite fish curry among them.
In this recipe, fish is cooked in roasted coconut gravy, here I have used tamarind and tomato as a sour taste ingredients. The main flavor of this curry is coming from the roasted coconut that we are used in this curry. It is very easy to prepare as well as tastes delicious. This curry goes well with rice or roti. Ingredients
Tuna Fish-1/2 Kg
Tamarind-Lemon Sized
Coconut-1 cup
Small onions-25
Curry Leaves
Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder-2 tsp
Red chilli Powder-1 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek Powder-1/4 tsp
Coconut Oil-3 tbs
Ginger-1/2 inch piece (chopped)
Garlic Cloves-5 (chopped)
Green Chilies-2 (chopped)
Tomato-1 (chopped)
Salt to taste
How To Make Roasted Coconut Fish Curry
- Wash and clean the fish pieces and keep it aside.
- Soak tamarind in hot water for 10 minutes.
- Then mash the tamarind well into the water to extract the juice.
- Next strain the tamarind water into another bowl & Keep it aside.
- In a pan add coconut, small onions and curry leaves.
- Then sauté it until coconut turns light golden brown in color.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and fenugreek powder into it.
- Further roast it until raw smell of powders goes off.
- Then allow it to cool down completely.
- Once it’s cooled down completely, transfer it into a mixer.
- Next add water as required and grind it into a fine paste and keep it aside.
- Further, heat coconut oil in a clay pot.
- Add small onions, ginger, garlic cloves, green chiles and salt in it.
- Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color.
- Next add tamarind water, grounded coconut paste and water as required.
- Mix it and let it boil.
- Then add salt to taste in it and mix it well.
- Add the fish pieces in it.
- Close it with a lid and cook it on medium flame for 15 minutes.
- Once the fish pieces are cooked well add chopped tomato pieces in it.
- Then Cook it for 2 more minutes or until the gravy thickens.
- Fish Curry is now ready. Switch off the flame.
- Next Heat 2tbs coconut oil in a pan.
- Add small onions and curry leaves in it.
- Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color.
- Finally, pour it over the curry,
- Fish curry is now ready to serve.
