You can see many varieties of fish curry in this website. Here comes another variety of fish curry. In this recipe of fish curry I used roasted coconut. It will taste delicious. Next time when your making fish curry just try to make fish curry in this style, then you can feel the taste of this curry. I am sure that you will love the taste of this curry. Here I used sravu/shark. You can use any fleshy fish for this curry. This curry goes well with rice or chapatti. Try this recipe and let me know how it turned out for you.


Ingredients

Fish-1/2 kg
Coconut-1 cup
Curry leaves-few
Small onion-15-20
Ginger-1 inch piece
Garlic-3 to 4 cloves
Green chillies-3
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Redchilli powder-2 tsp
Tamarind- lemon size
Tomato-1
Coconut oil-5 tbs


Method Of Preparation

  • Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add coconut, small onions and few curry leaves into it. 
  • Roast it in medium flame until onion turns golden brown in color
  • Keep the flame in low and then add turmeric powder, coriander powder and redchilli powder into it 
  • Roast it in low flame until the raw smell of powders goes
  • Transfer it into a plate and allow it to cool down
  • Once it is cooled down, transfer it into a blender
  • Grind it into a fine paste by adding water into it
  • Take a lemon sized tamarind, soak it in hot water for few minutes
  • Heat coconut oil in a clay pot. Add small onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies into it
  • Sauté it until onion turns golden brown in color
  • Add the grounded coconut paste into it
  • Sauté it for few minutes. Add enough water. Add tamarind soaked water into it. Add salt into it and mix everything well. Bring it to a boil
  • Add fish pieces into it. Then add tomato into it. Mix everything gently with a spoon
  • Cover the pot with a lid and allow the fish to cook
  • After 15 minutes, open the lid and check fish pieces are cooked well
  • Switch off the flame, if fish pieces are cooked well and gravy thickens
  • Finally season the curry with small onions and curry leaves
  • Fish curry is now ready to serve
