Easy Prawn Roast Recipe | Kerala Style Prawn Roast Recipe with Video Recipe. Prawn is a versatile seafood because you can use prawn for preparing variety of dishes. However, In some countries prawns are also known as shrimps. For instance, in the United States and Australia prawns are known as shrimp, but in the United Kingdom and India both prawns and shrimps are known as prawns. Especially, in south Indian cuisines prawns are one of the main ingredients. Today I am sharing here the South Indian style prawn recipe. It is very easy to prepare within few minutes. In this recipe, prawns are shallow fried with onions, tomatoes, spices and lemon juice etc. It goes well as a side dish with rice and chapati. Try this recipe and let me know your feedback.


Ingredients

Prawns-200 gm

Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp

Red chilli Powder-1 tsp

Salt

Oil

Cinnamon Stick-1 small piece

Cardamom-2 nos

Cloves-4 nos

Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp

Garlic Cloves-10 (Chopped into small pieces)

Ginger-1 inch piece (Chopped into small pieces)

Green chilies-2 (Chopped)

Onion-2 (finely Chopped)

Tomato-2 (Chopped)

Coriander Powder-2 tsp

Redchilli Powder-1 1/2 tsp

Fennel Powder-1 1/2 tsp

Water-1 cup

Pepper Powder-1/2 tsp

Curry Leaves

Lemon Juice-1/2 of a Lemon

How To Make Prawn Roast

  • Clean the prawns and devein them.
  • Add turmeric powder, redchilli powder and salt to taste into cleaned prawns. Mix it well.
  • Set it aside for at least 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Shallow fry the marinated prawns for 2 minutes & Keep it aside.( Don’t over cook prawns)
  • Heat oil in another pan.
  • Add cinnamon stick, cardamon, cloves and mustard seeds in it. 
  • Let the mustard seeds splutter.
  • Add chopped garlic cloves, ginger and green chilies in it.
  • Saute it until it turns golden brown in color.
  • Add finely chopped onion in it.
  • Add salt in it and sauté it until onion turns golden brown in color.
  • Add turmeric powder in it and sauté it for few seconds.
  • Add chopped tomato in it and mix it.
  • Close it with a lid & Let the tomato cook well.
  • Once tomato cooked well, switch off the flame & Let it cool down completely.
  • Once it’s cooled down completely, transfer it into a mixer.
  • Grind it into a fine paste.
  • Transfer the grounded paste into the pan.
  • Add coriander powder, redchilli powder and fennel powder in it.
  • Mix it well & Saute it until raw smell of powders goes off.
  • Add shallow fried prawns in it and mix it well.
  • Add water in it.
  • Add salt to taste in it and mix it well.
  • Close it with a lid & Cook it for 1 minute.
  • Add pepper powder in it.
  • Mix it well & Saute it for a minute.
  • Add curry leaves and lemon juice in it and mix it well.
  • Prawn Roast is now ready to serve

Directions

  • Clean the prawns and devein them.
  • Add turmeric powder, redchilli powder and salt to taste into cleaned prawns. Mix it well.

  • Shallow fry the marinated prawns for 2 minutes u0026 Keep it aside.( Don’t over cook prawns)
  • Heat oil in another pan.
  • Add cinnamon stick, cardamon, cloves and mustard seeds in it.

  • Saute it until it turns golden brown in color.
  • Add finely chopped onion in it.

  • Add turmeric powder in it and sauté it for few seconds.
  • Add chopped tomato in it and mix it.
  • Close it with a lid u0026 Let the tomato cook well.
  • Once tomato cooked well, switch off the flame u0026 Let it cool down completely.
  • Once it’s cooled down completely, transfer it into a mixer.
  • Grind it into a fine paste.
