Besan Ladoo is made with besan flour. also known as gram flour, This gluten-free flour is made from ground chickpeas and brings a nutty, earthy flavor to the ladoo. Rich in protein, fiber, and various nutrients, besan adds a nutritional punch to this sweet delicacy.

Traditionally besan ladoo is made with besan, ghee and powdered sugar, but in this recipe I replaced powdered sugar with powdered jaggery for making these ladoos into a healthier version.

Replacing the conventional sugar, jaggery steps in as the sweetener for our Besan Ladoo. Jaggery, made from concentrated sugarcane juice or palm sap, is a natural sweetener with a unique, caramel-like taste. Packed with minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium, jaggery offers a healthier alternative to refined sugar.

Besan ladoo preparation is very simple. These ladoos are made by slow roasting the besan flour in ghee until it turns aromatic and golden brown in color. Then jaggery syrup, cardamom powder and nuts are added into besan flour and mix well. Finally I have added little hot water into this mixture. Hot water helps in bringing the mixture together. Portions of this warm mixture is pressed down in the palm to shape into ladoo balls.

Besan Ladoo Recipe | Besan Ladoo With Jaggery Recipe Ingredients

Powdered Jaggery-1 Cup

Water-1/4 Cup

Ghee-1/4 Cup

Cashew nuts-10 (Chopped)

Raisins-10

Besan Flour-2 Cup

Rava/Sooji -2 tbs

Cardamom Powder-1/2 tsp

Hot water-1/2 Cup

How To Make Besan Ladoo With Jaggery

  • Firstly, in a heavy bottomed pan take powdered jaggery add water in it. Then heat it and let the jaggery dissolve completely.
  • Once jaggery dissolved completely, switch off the flame. Strain it and keep it aside.
  • Further heat 1/4 cup ghee in a pan, add cashew nuts in it. Then sauté it until cashew nuts turns golden brown in color. Then take it out.
  • Then add raisins in it. Saute it until it puff up. Take it out.
  • Next add besan flour and rava/sooji in it.  Saute it for 10 mins or until the color changes to golden brown(Stir it continuously in low flame).
  • Switch off the flame, add cardamom powder in it and mix it well.
  • Add roasted cashew nuts & raisins and mix it well.
  • Further add jaggery syrup in it. Mix it well until jaggery syrup is well absorbed by the flour mix.
  • Then add hot water in it and mix well until the mixture comes together.
  • Finally, grease your palm with oil, then take a small portion of mixture in your palm and shape it into ladoos.
