Salna Recipe | Empty Salna Recipe | Parotta Salna with Video Recipe. a simple and tasty vegetarian curry made with just onion and tomato masala as a base and a mixture of coconut and spices. It goes well as a side dish with parotta and chapatti. You can serve it with rice based recipes also as it has a similar taste of salan recipe.
If you don’t have any vegetables in your home for preparing any curry then you can definitely try this curry recipe. You just need onion and tomato for preparing this curry. It has a creamy texture as we are adding grounded coconut and cashew nuts in this curry.

Salna Recipe Ingredients
Grated Coconut-1/2 cup
Cashew nuts-5
Fennel seeds-1 tsp
Poppy seeds-1/2 tsp
Oil-2 tbs
Bay leaf-1
Cinnamonstick-1
Cardamom-4
Onion-2 (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Tomatoes-2
Garam masala-1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
How To Make Salna
- Firstly, in a mixer add grated coconut, cashew nuts, fennelseeds, poppyseed and 1/4 cup water and grind it to a fine paste. Keep it aside.
- Next heat 2tbs oil in a pan. Then add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cardamom and fennel seeds. Saute it for few seconds.
- Further add onion and ginger garlic paste in it. Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color.
- Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder and redchilli powder in it. Saute it until raw smell of powders goes off. Next add tomatoes in it. Add 1/2 cup water in it. Close it with a lid and cook it until tomatoes are cooked well.
- Further add grounded coconut paste in it and mix it well.
- Then add garam masala and salt to taste in it and mix it well.
- Next add 4 cup water in it and mix it well. Cook it in low flame for 15 minutes
- Finally add coriander leaves and curry leaves in it and mix it.
- Salna is now ready to serve.
