Ghee Rice Recipe | Easy Rice Recipe with Video Recipe. Today I would like to share with you an easy rice recipe that is ghee rice. Ghee rice is a popular south Indian rice made with rice, ghee, whole spices, fried onions, and fried cashewnuts and raisins. This rice is popular on restaurant menus. It is one of the popular rice recipe made for festivals and special occasions. You no need to add any vegetables in this rice recipe, so anybody can prepare this rice very easily with very few ingredients that are always available in your kitchen. Here I have shared an easy method for preparing ghee rice. In this recipe I have used jeera rice, so no need to sauté rice with ghee and onion, you just need to boil rice with ghee and onion until rice gets cooked, but if you are using basmati rice you need to sauté basmati rice with ghee and onion for few minutes and then you need to boil it until rice gets cooked well. Ingredient

Jeera Rice- 3 cup

Ghee- 3tbs

Cashews-6 halves

Raisins-12

Cinnamon Stick-1

Cardamom-1

Cloves-4

Fennel Seeds-1 tsp

Ginger-1 tsp (chopped)

Garlic cloves-6 (chopped)

Green chilli-1 (chopped)

Onion-2, thinly sliced

Water-4 1/2 cup

Salt to taste

Method Of Preparation

  • Soak jeera rice in water for at least 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan. 
  • Add cashews and raisins in it. Roast it until it turns golden brown in color.
  • Take out the roasted cashews and raisins
  • Add cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves, fennel seeds, ginger, garlic cloves and green chilli in it.
  • Sauté it until it turns light golden brown in color.
  • Add thinly sliced onion in it.
  • Saute it until onion turns golden brown in color.
  • Add water in it.
  • Add salt to taste in it and mix it well.
  • Let the water boil.
  • Add jeera rice in it.
  • Mix it.
  • Close it with a lid & Cook it in low flame for 15-20 minutes or until rice is cooked well.
  • Once rice is cooked well, add fried cashews and raisins in it and mix it.
  • Ghee Rice is now ready to serve
