As I mentioned in my last post here comes another variety dish with tapioca/kappa. That is Tapioca pulao/Kappa pulao. Usually we will make pulao with rice, but In this recipe of pulao, I am using tapioca/kappa instead of rice. It’s very easy to make and it is very delicious. If you have tapioca/kappa at your home, and you want to try something different with tapioca/kappa, then this will be a best option for you. This recipe is a combination of two recipes, that is kappa puzhukku and pulao. Just try this recipe and let me know how it turned out for you.


Ingredients

Tapioca/Kappa-1 kg (Cleaned)
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-few
Ginger-small piece
Garlic cloves-4 to 5
Green chillies-2 to3
Onion-1 (finely chopped)
Carrot&Beans-1 cup (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Grated coconut-1 cup
Oil-1 tbs


Method Of Preparation

  • Remove the outer skin of tapioca and wash it well with water
  • Cut the cleaned tapioca into medium size pieces
  • Take water in a bowl and then add turmeric powder into it. Mix well
  • Soak the cleaned tapioca in this water for 30 minutes
  • Take enough water in a pot. Allow it to boil
  • Once it started to boil add the soaked tapioca pieces into it. Add salt into it and cook tapioca. Don’t over cook it
  • Once it’s cooked drain the water and transfer it into a plate. Allow it to cool down completely
  • Once it’s cooled down, cut it into small pieces
  • Heat oil in a pan, Add mustard seeds and curry leaves into it. Once mustard seeds started to splutter add ginger and garlic cloves into it. Then add green chillies into it. Sauté it for few minutes
  • Then add finely chopped onion into it. Add salt. Sauté it until onion becomes transparent
  • Add finely chopped carrots and beans into it. Sauté it well until vegetables are cooked well
  • Add grated coconut into it and sauté it for few minutes. Add chopped tapioca pieces into it. Add enough salt and mix everything well. Sauté it for few minutes
  • Kappa pulao/ Tapioca pulao is now ready to serve
