Pav Bhaji Recipe With Video Recipe. It is a popular street food especially in Mumbai. Pav means ‘bread rolls’ Bhaji means ‘Vegetable based dish’ in Marathi. Since both pav and bhaji are served together, hence the name ‘pav bhaji’. This Bhaji is prepared with mashed vegetables cooked in butter and with a spicy powder ‘ pav bhaji masala’. Pav bhaji masala is a blend of different spices. It is the main ingredient of this pav bhaji. U can buy pav bhaji masala from stores but in this recipe I used home made pav bhaji masala. If you want to make pav bhaji masala at home then check my recipe of home made pav bhaji masala. This pav bhaji is very delicious and very easy to prepare. U can use any vegetables of your choice in this recipe. Depending upon the vegetables that you used for preparing bhaji, it’s taste will vary. In this recipe I didn’t use capsicum as it was not available at my home, when I was preparing this recipe. But you should add capsicum if it’s available at your home, because it will give a nice flavor for this bhaji. Try this recipe and let me know how it tuned out for you. Let us come to the recipe


Ingredients

For Bhaji

Butter- 2 tbs
Potato-2 ( Cooked)
Green Peas- 1/4 cup
Onion-2 (Finely chopped)
Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
Tomato-3 (Finely chopped)
Water- 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Kashmiri redchilli powder-1 tsp
Pavbhaji masala powder-1 tsp
Coriander leaves
Kasuri methi leaves
Lemon Juice- 1/2


To Toast Pav

Pav- 1
Butter-1/2 tsp
Redchilli powder- a pinch
Pavbhaji masala-a pinch
Coriander leaves-few

Method Of Preparation

  • Add potatoes and green peas into a pressure cooker add enough water and cook it for 2 whistles.
  • In a kadai heat butter. Add onion and ginger garlic paste into it and saute it until onion becomes  translucent
  • Add tomato and cooked vegetables into it. Add salt and mix well. Add 1/2 cup water into it. Cover and cook it for 5 minutes
  • Once vegetables are cooked well, mash it well. Add turmeric powder, redchilli powder and pavbhaji masala powder into it. Saute it for 1 minute
  • Add butter, coriander leaves, kasurimethi leaves and lemon juice into it and saute it for 1 minute. Mash everything well
  • Now the bhaji is ready to serve
  • Now prepare the Pav by heating butter in a pan, add redchilli powder, pav bhaji masala and coriander leaves into it and mix well. Make a slit in the center of the pav. Toast it in spiced butter
  • Now the pav is ready to serve with bhaji
