U might have tried many recipes of kappa and many ada recipes also, but this recipe will be new to you…Here I tried to make an ada with kappa. This ada was more tastier than any other Adas that I have tried before. So I am sure that you will also love the taste of this ada. U can make ada in two ways. One method is steaming them in a steamer. Other method is heating them in a pan. Ada made by this method as a special name “Ottada”. Here I tried to heat ada in a pan hence its name is kappa/tapioca Ottada. Let us come to the recipe. Please try this recipe and let me know your feedback.
Ingredients
Kappa/Tapioca-1 kg
Grated Coconut-1 cup
Greenchillies-2
Small onions-3
Garlic Pods-6
Turmeric powder-2tsp
Onion-1, large
Tomato-1
Ginger-1 inch pieces, chopped
Redchilli powder-2 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Banana leaf
Method Of Preparation
- After cooking kappa/tapioca well, mash it well and keep it aside
- Take a blender and add grated coconut, green chillies, small onions, garlic pods and turmeric powder in it and blend everything well without adding water
- Add this mix to the mashed tapioca and mix everything well and keep it aside
- Heat oil in a pan and add ginger, garlic,onion and little salt into it and sauté it well until onion turns light brown in color
- Once onion turns brown in color add turmeric powder, coriander powder and redchilli powder into it and sauté everything well until raw small goes
- Next add one tomato into it and sauté it well until tomato is cooked well
- Once tomato is cooked well add garam masala into it and sauté it for 2 minutes
- Now the filling for ada is now ready
- Next take a piece of banana leaf, dip the finger in water and flatten the dough on banana leaf using finger tips
- Spread the filling on it
- Fold the banana leaf in half
- Just press it with your fingers
- Repeat this process with the remaining dough and filling
- Heat a tawa, when its hot place it on tawa and roast them on both sides at medium flame till the banana leaves turns brown and charred little
- When ada starts to separate from banana leaf, switch off the flame and take it out
- Kappa ottada/ Tapioca pancake is now ready to serve
