Vermicelli kheer is a popular dessert in India during any special occasions or festivals. It is one of the easiest dessert recipe that you can make within few minutes. Vermicelli kheer is made with vermicelli, whole milk and sugar. Generally we will use sugar as a sweetener in vermicelli kheer recipe, but for making it a diabetic friendly dessert, I have added dates instead of sugar in this recipe. Including dates in your diet has many health benefits. Dates are good source of several nutrients, fiber and antioxidants. Dates are good source of fructose. Fructose is a natural type of sugar found in fruits, hence dates has very sweet taste. As dates has very sweet taste, you can use dates as a healthy substitute for white sugar. Dates have low glycemic index, so chances are very less for it to spike your blood sugar levels, so dates are a safe choice for diabetic people.
