Boondi Ladoo

Today I am posting the recipe of my all time favorite Boondi Ladoo. It is a delicious sweet make for special occasions and for festival like Diwali in India.Do u think it is difficult to make at home? It is not so. Just follow my recipe and then you can understand that it is easy to make at home and you can serve it as gifts for your friends and family for special occasions and for festival like Diwali. It requires very less ingredients,only you need to give importance for forming the ladoo shape as well as getting the sugar syrup consistency right.I  hope you will try this recipe and let me know how it turned out for you

Servings:10 ladoos


Besan-1 cup
Baking soda-1/2 tsp
Yellow food coloring -a pinch
Ghee-2 tbs
Cashew nuts-25 gms
Raisins-50 gms

For the sugar syrup

Sugar-1 cup
Water-3/4 cup
Cardamon Powder-1/2 tsp

Method Of Preparation

  • Take Besan and sieve it.Add water in it slowly and make it into a smooth batter.The batter should neither too thick nor thin.It should be like Idly batter. Make the batter perfectly then only you will get round boondi
  • Now add baking soda and food coloring in it and mix well
  • Now heat oil for deep frying
  • Now take a perforated ladle.Hold it just above the oil.(Don’t hold it in a position it is too high from oil, because you want get proper boondis if you hold it like that)
  • Pour a ladle of batter over the perforated ladle and spread it out .Move perforated ladle  in circular motion. The boondis will fall drop by drop
  • Fry the boondis till they are little soft .Drain the excess oil and keep them aside
  • Take sugar and water in a pan and mix well. Bring it to a boil and cook till it attain a single string consistency.That means,when you touch it between your index finger and thumb and pull it apart it should form a string.At this point switch off the flame and add cardamon powder in it and mix well
  • Now blend boondi little by little for a few seconds in a mixer(Don not make it a paste)
  • Now add this to the sugar syrup and mix well
  • Now heat ghee in a pan add cashew nuts and raisins in it and fry till it turns golden brown in color.Pour this over the boondi and mix well
  • Take a small portion of this mix and shape it into ladoo balls
  • Delicious,Yummy Boondi ladoos are ready to serve
