Once you learned how to make fish pickle at your home, you will stop buying fish pickle from stores. Home made fish pickles are more healthier than the store bought fish pickles as it won’t contain any preservatives. You can store these pickles in an air-tight glass jars and have it whenever you want. Once you made this pickle, have these pickles after 2,3 days, because it will take some time for the flavor to settle in. I made this fish pickle with tuna fish , you can use any firm-fleshed fish for this recipe.  This pickle will go well with rice, chapatti or porridge. Let us learn today how to make fish pickle. Ingredients

Fish-1kg (Here I used tuna fish, you can use any firm-fleshed fish)
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Redchilli powder-5 1/2 tbs
Salt to taste
Garlic-10 pods
Ginger-1 big piece
Greenchillies-3-4
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Fenugreek powder-1 tsp
Asafoetida powder-1/4 tsp
Vinegar-3/4 cup
Oil

Method Of Preparation

  • Clean the fish and cut it into small cube size pieces. Wash it well and drain the water
  • Add turmeric powder, redchilli powder and salt into the fish pieces and mix well. Keep it aside for 30 minutes
  • Add garlic, ginger and green chillies into a mixer and crush everything well
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the fish pieces in hot oil until it’s crispy on outside. Drain the excess oil in the fish pieces and keep it aside
  • Heat oil in another pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add thE crushed masala and curry leaves into it and saute it well
  • Reduce the flame to low and add 31/2 tbs redchilli powder into it and mix well. Saute it well until the raw smell of powder goes off. Add the fried fish pieces into it and mix well
  • Add fenugreek powder and asafoetida powder into it and mix well
  • Add vinegar into it and mix well. Let it boil. Add salt to taste into it and mix well.
  • Let it cook until the gravy thickens. Switch off the flame
  • Fish pickle is now ready. 
  • Let it cool completely and store in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator
